We speak to fan Emma Marshall, discussing how she takes inspiration from Eilish’s looks in her everyday style and how to be more Billie.
Katie Stewart April 2026
KS: Do you remember when and how you first discovered Billie Eilish?
EM: My friend invited me to a Billie Eilish concert in 2018, I had never heard her music before so I went to check out her music and realised I had actually heard a few of her songs before. I’ve been listening to her music since then.
KS: What would you say is the main reason that you are a fan of Billie Eilish?
EM: I love her music so much, I listen to it a lot, but I also really like her as a person. I enjoy watching interviews she does, I think she’s funny, and she’s outspoken on a lot of issues that I also care about. I think her personality is a big draw for me.
KS: Do you feel as though her style has influenced your own personal style? If so, how?
EM: Yeah, I’m not really the biggest fan of dressing very feminine and Billie Eilish is definitely known for dressing more masculine so I think in that respect I probably get some inspiration from her. I also remember her saying in an old interview something along the lines of “you can’t have an opinion on my body if you don’t know what it looks like” when she was asked about always wearing baggy clothes. I have gone through periods of my life where I wore baggier clothing to avoid comments on the way I looked, and I think her saying that probably was partially in my thought process.
KS: Is there any iconic or favourite looks that stand out to you?
EM: There was a red carpet look where she was in neon green and black Chanel. I loved it so much because it was so her style which is more casual but this was a dressed up, formal version.
KS: Is there any element of that look that you have incorporated into your own style?
EM: I don’t know if I have incorporated any specific elements into my own style but I would love to. I think that the idea of a more casual or “masculine” outfit paired with full glam makeup and nails is definitely something I attempt, which is what I really loved about that outfit.
KS: Is there a Billie Eilish “era” that you feel has most influenced your style, or would you say it’s evolved as her style has evolved?
EM: Some of her more recent outfits have been more influential to me. When she was younger she seemed to have more of an edgy aesthetic, lots of graphic tees and big chunky chains, which never really appealed to me too much, they didn’t feel like they fit with my own personal style.
KS: You mentioned earlier about being invited to a Billie Eilish concert. Have you been to any of her shows and how did you dress for it? Did you wear something inspired by Eilish or wear something completely your own style?
EM: Yes, I went to the Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour. I definitely drew inspiration from her for my outfit. I wore my dad’s baggy shorts which I wear a lot anyway but I felt that they were pretty fitting for the concert. I didn’t try to dress like her though, I had aspects of my outfit that were more my own style. I saw a lot of people in the audience that were wearing almost exact recreations of outfits Billie Eilish had worn before, I didn’t do that.
KS: Do you own any Billie Eilish Merchandise? Do you think that it’s reflective of her style and aesthetic?
EM: I have a T-shirt from her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour that I attended. I think it’s reflective of her aesthetic, the picture on the front and the font used are both really bold and colourful which is reflective of her style.
KS: Do you think there has been any trends that have been inspired by Billie Eilish’s music and style?
EM: I think there has been just a general increase in baggier clothing and people pushing gender stereotypes more recently, and she probably plays a big part in that. And ghost roots have been a pretty popular hair trend and she was probably the first person I ever saw with hair like that.
KS: What would you say are the most recognisable features of Billie Eilish’s style?
EM: Recognisable features of Billie Eilish’s style are probable baggy clothing, lots of layers, chunky shoes and lots of jewellery.
KS: Is there any style advice you would give to other fans who want to incorporate Billie’s style and aesthetic into their own look?
EM: If I had to give advice on incorporating Billie Eilish’s aesthetic into their own look I would probably tell them to raid their dad’s wardrobe. Or at least the men’s section of a thrift shop or Vinted. A lot of what she wears is so unique, and I think she’s said in the past she thrifts a lot, so probably buying second hand would be the best route to go down.
